SARAH ROTHE APPOINTED CREATIVE DIRECTOR OF JAMFACTORY’S JEWELLERY
AND METAL STUDIO

JamFactory is thrilled to announce South Australian Jeweller, Sarah Rothe as the newly appointed Creative Director of JamFactory’s Jewellery and Metal Studio.

With over 10 years of experience in the industry, Rothe has made her way back to JamFactory,
after completing the two-year Associate training program under the direction of Sue Lorraine in 2008.

Bringing with her a wealth of knowledge of contemporary jewellery and metalworking within a studio environment, Rothe also has years of experience in developing work for production, exhibition and commission, as well as an understanding of the trade and retail industries.

For the past 5 years, Rothe has been employed by the University of South Australia’s School of Art, Architecture and Design, Jewellery and Metal Studio, as a Technical Officer and Instruction Manager, and currently as a Studio Educator, while also running her successful retail store, Sarah Rothe | Jewellery & Design, in Rundle Mall’s Regent Arcade.

Rothe’s work has been acquired for the permanent collections of the Art Gallery of South Australia in Adelaide and the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney, as well as private collections including Joost and Truus Daalder and Hilary Clinton.

In 2008, Rothe was the recipient of the Helpmann Academy Cultural Exchange to Jingdezhen, China, and throughout her career, has received professional development grants from both Arts South Australia and the Helpmann Academy.

Rothe will be responsible for the training of new Associates, design of new products, and for growing income and raising awareness of JamFactory’s Jewellery and Metal studio.

JamFactory’s CEO Brian Parkes says, “Sarah is an outstanding local talent with entrepreneurial flair.
As well as being an accomplished maker, she has broad experience in industrial production, tertiary education and commercial business. These experiences will be a tremendous asset for the future development our Jewellery and Metal Studio and for the emerging artists and designers who come through it.”

In January 2018, Rothe will take over from current Creative Director Christian Hall, who after eight years will leave the studio with a legacy of great achievements and strong foundations for continued growth.
